I have watched the protests in Canada involving the truckers who have been protesting the Vaccine and Mask mandates imposed by Justin Trudeau. The mandates are being imposed at a time when many governments are moving away from them. They come at a time when we are learning that the ‘vaccines’ are not effective at preventing the spread of COVID and only 40% effective or so at preventing you from contracting it. We are learning more about Adverse reactions, Myocarditis and other ailments associated with them. There are many, very valid, reasons to oppose these mandates.
The truckers in Canada organized to protest these mandates and basically shut down the transportation sector in a peaceful protest. Now mind you, these are not the ‘Fiery, but mostly peaceful’ protests applauded by CNN and other corporate news outlets, no matter how much the Canadian State-Run media claims.
This could have been a learning moment. This could have been a chance for a leader to meet with the opposition and learn what they were about. Trudeau, however, decided to dig in his heels and refused to listen to them. Rather than to meet with the organizers and hear their concerns…He fled. Oh, he claimed to have come down with Covid…at a politically expedient time. However, once he ‘recovered’, instead of meeting with the organizers, he again fled…this time for a ski trip. Al throughout this protest, we have seen images of the OPP taking firewood from the truckers, confiscating fuel cans and even roughing up a frail old man…for honking his horn. Who can forget this now infamous video?
We saw Go Fund Me, the popular Crowd Funding site, buckle under pressure from the Canadian Government and shut down the Convoy’s fundraiser. In an amazing show of hubris, Go Fund Me then told the organizers that the money already collected (over 9 million dollars) would be donated to a ‘reputable charity’ of Go Fund Me’s choosing. If donors wanted a refund, they had to ask for it in writing by a specific date.
As soon as they announced this, several American lawmakers, Attorneys General and Governors said, “Um, if you do this, it’s fraud and we will investigate and prosecute it.” Well, what do you know? GFM flinched and refunded the money. All of this came to head yesterday when Justin Trudeau’s government declared that Canada would be using the Emergency Powers to shut down the protest. His government directed banks and other financial institutions to freeze the accounts of anyone thought to be connected to the protest. His deputy PM, Christia Freeland (there’s an ironic name) said, “If your truck is being used in this way, your corporate accounts will be frozen…The insurance on your vehicle will be suspended.”
Just in case she or one of her staff tries to delete the tweet…I’m here to remind her that the Internet is forever.
The Media and political left cheered these actions. They called him a strong leader, brave and even one person said that the actions were necessary to ‘preserve democracy’.
All of those cheering these actions on should be ashamed of themselves. Ashamed and deeply afraid. Because when the Government can act in this way towards its citizens? You no longer have freedom; you no longer have liberty, and you no longer have rights. What you have is Despotism. Your country has, at that point, become a dictatorship.
Canada has become just that. It is now a dictatorship under the tyrannical rule of Justin Trudeau and his quislings. Her citizens no longer have rights, they have privileges that the government, capricious as it is, can revoke whenever the Prime Minister feels like it.
This is why, here in America, the founders gave us the Bill of Rights. Men like Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Payne and John Hancock understood that rights were inherent. That they were natural and bestowed upon us by our creator.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
In order to protect these rights, in 1791, our founding fathers gave us the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is a charter of limitations on the Government saying what the Government can NOT do. These rights are universal and natural rights that cannot be taken away.
Alas, Canada does not have any such rights. They have a Charter…But these rights, as Mr. Trudeau has demonstrated, are not rights at all. They can be altered, abridged or removed entirely by the Despotic whims of a petty and vindictive tyrant. This is precisely what we are now seeing.
When Government fails to take steps to preserve and protect the rights and liberty of its citizens, it invariably destroys it. The larger Government gets, the less freedom the citizens have. Our founders knew this and warned us to guard our freedoms and our rights jealously.
This is why we have the Bill of Rights. To those cheering what the Government of Canada is now doing to its citizens, you are vile and detestable. I caution you, beware. Because if the Government can do this to the truckers now, what is to prevent them from turning every terrifying aspect of the state against you, should they decide they don’t like what you say?
And for those of you in America saying that it can’t happen here? I’ll just point out that it has already begun. Oh, it’s not moving at the breakneck pace that we’re seeing in Canada, but make no mistake, it’s going to be happening much more rapidly now.
Our founders left us a legacy of Rights. Our freedoms were written into the Constitution to protect and to forever codify the rights referred to in the Declaration of Independence.
But there’s a catch. Our founders also knew that Governments can and do go bad. They cautioned us to be vigilant and to guard our freedoms with every fiber of our being.
What happened to Canada can happen here, and it’s already begun. If we do not jealously guard our Liberties and hold accountable our elected leaders, we WILL lose those very freedoms our founding fathers fought for. We will forever lose the rights and the gift of freedom that countless men and women have given their lives to protect.
What happened in Canada is happening here and soon, I fear, it will be too late to stop it.
President Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than a generation from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on to them to do the same or one day, we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
President Reagan was right. I have watched, in horror, in less than a single Generation how much freedom we’ve lost. I’ve seen how our liberties have been whittled away at until they bear little resemblance to what I grew up to understand.
The time has come for us to fight back and reclaim our birthright as Americans. We must stand up for our liberty and tell those in power that we will not accept what has happened in Canada to happen here.
